The Ensemble is an open format for experimenting and premiering new works, arrangements, and sounds.
At its core it is a low string quartet (violin, viola, cello, doublebass) accompanied by the augmented piano. Born from concerts at Podium Esslingen and recordings for #bebeethoven the ensemble has been joining Kaan Bulak since 2018 on stages such as Philharmonie Berlin, Opernhaus Zürich, Beethovenfest Bonn, Schloss Elmau, Mozartfest Würzburg, ZKM Karlsruhe and Podium Festival Esslingen.
From a group of close musician friends each concert program is thought anew with evolving roles within the ensemble and guest artists. Musical approaches are agreed upon together, everyone can lead a rehearsal if they wish to. Instruments are just the visible surface, people involved in the ensemble are interested in what is behind them, the essence of music, a transcendental experience.
